The surgery is under local anaesthetic and lasts about 30 minutes. You may have some pain and swelling following the procedure but you should be able to return to work in two to three days in most cases.
After surgery, we will check your semen to make sure no sperm is present. You should use alternative contraception until these tests are complete. Your post vasectomy sample is done after sixteen weeks.
Mr Gaetan Lin Sin Cho
Known as Mr Guy Lin, he graduated at Wits University in Johannesburg, South Africa. Guy completed his internship at Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto. His medical career then took him to Mauritius, his home country, where he worked for several years before settling in England where he undertook surgical training in Exeter. Guy became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2001 and undertook specialist training in spinal surgery at Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Centre in Exeter.
Guy also trained as a GP in Devon, qualifying in 2004. He joined the Probus partnership in that same year as a GP and part-time surgeon with Probus Surgical Centre. Guy’s interests lies in vasectomy and minor surgery. He has performed over 1500 vasectomies. He is also responsible for the assessment of medical students from the Peninsula Medical School during their surgical attachment.
Guy is a partner at Probus Surgery and is the Clinical Director of Probus Surgical Centre. He is also the nominated individual for the Care Quality Commission.
Dr Rawlins Murthy
Born and educated in India, he studied Medicine in Nepal and has been working as a doctor in the NHS since 2005. After qualification he started training in the field of Surgery, but after a placement at Probus surgery decided to change his career path to become a GP. His clinical interests are Eldercare Medicine (old age) Psychiatry, Urinary and prostate problems in men, Musculoskeletal, Orthopaedic and Surgical diseases.
Dr Murthy has since joined the Surgical Centre to perform vasectomies and the Partnership of Probus Surgery
