News: July 2015
9th July 2015: A welcome visitor.
Since we last wrote the surgical centre has continued to grow.
We continue to be a respected and popular provider of abdominal hernia repair surgery and, in Cornwall, we have contributed significantly to what is probably one of the best cataract services in the Country.
Since our last news offering we have taken the delivery of care and surgical treatments closer to where our patients live. We now send a surgical team to Penzance and Helston in the West and to Liskeard in the East. It is hoped that we will soon be treating more people in Stratton and Torpoint as well.
Our NHS is under a great deal of pressure both from workload and financially and in Cornwall it is no exception. Working with Treliske we have developed several initiatives to help alleviate some of those pressures and there are further initiatives in the pipe-line. It has been great to see what can be achieved working together towards common goals.

Centres operating theatres.
The good reputation of your local Probus Surgical Centre continues to spread and we were very pleased to welcome a visit from His Grace the Bishop of Truro on Thursday July 9th. The weather wasn’t that great but Bishop Tim put a Summer smile on everyone’s face. He was able to inspect our operating theatres and meet several members of staff. We hope he left us having heard that having a surgical treatment at Probus doesn’t have to be an unpleasant experience and that there is nothing wrong in putting some fun into healthcare. Bishop Tim was accompanied by our own local vicar, the Rev: Andrew together with the Rev. Ellie Goldsmith. We were all very pleased to see him and to also have an opportunity to thank him for the generous donation from the Church to the memory Café. The funds will help the furtherance of dementia care and awareness in the community.
