Probus Surgery & Probus Surgical Centre Business and Strategic Manager
Probus Surgery and Surgical Centre sits in the rural village of Probus between the towns of Truro and St Austell with stunning views across the valley. The Surgical Centre is located within the GP Practice in a purpose built Medical Centre. We have over 75 staff employed across both businesses. The GP Practice provides services to over 9000 registered patients and these services are provided by 2 salaried GP’s, 2 Paramedics, a Nursing team, Dispensary team, Reception team, Mental Health therapist, a Physiotherapist and various administrators, all supported by 6 Partners. The GP Practice is a training site for trainee GP’s and is supported by various external agencies. Probus Surgical Centre was one of the first community based surgical centres to be set up in Cornwall in 1995. The Surgical Centre is owned by the GP Partnership with two of the GP’s having a special interest in surgical services and work alongside the various visiting surgeons to provide NHS and private day case procedures under local anaesthetics.
Due to retirement and future proofing, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and ambitious Senior Manager, with strategic skills and vision, to join our team as for both the Surgical Centre and GP practice.
We are looking for a leader who is self-driven to take on this rewarding role to help drive both businesses forward. The successful candidate would report to the Partnership and would be responsible for delivering and maintaining operational excellence in the Surgical Centre, as well as providing leadership and management for the GP Practice.
The Strategic Manager will be expected to protect, maintain, and expand existing services, whilst also negotiating and establishing new Surgical Services under the contract that Probus Surgical Centre holds with Kernow CCG and RCHT. Additionally, the Strategic Manager would be expected to lead and expand services within the GP Practice and develop new and innovative ways to improve and maintain excellent quality of care for our patients, whilst working alongside the PCN and external services to achieve this.
Due to our unique set up, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will initially support the current senior Surgical Manager, who will be going through a phased retirement for a handover period of approximately three months. The successful candidate will be expected to continue in that role for up to 2 years. There is a GMS Practice Manager currently in post and the post-holder will also work alongside her in making strategic decisions on the GMS side.
If you think you have the skills and ambition to take on this challenging but exciting new role and wish to either remain or relocate to the beautiful county of Cornwall, with its stunning coast-line and reputation for sustainable work life balance, then we would strongly advise you to express an interest in this role by contacting Dr Rawlins Murthy (Managing Partner) at email@example.com or Dr Guy Lin (Clinical Director) at firstname.lastname@example.org for informal enquiries or to arrange a visit.
