  • Mr Gaetan Lin Sin Cho

    Mr Gaetan Lin Sin Cho

    Known as Mr Guy Lin, he graduated at Wits University in Johannesburg, South Africa. Guy completed his internship at Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto. His medical career then took him to Mauritius, his home country, where he worked for several years before settling in England where he undertook surgical training in Exeter. Guy became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2001.

    Guy also trained as a GP in Devon, qualifying in 2004. He joined the Probus partnership in that same year as a GP and part-time surgeon with Probus Surgical Centre. Guy’s interests lie in vasectomy and minor surgery. He has performed over 2000 vasectomies. He is also responsible for the assessment of medical students from the Peninsula Medical School during their surgical attachment.

  • Dr Rawlins Murthy

    Dr Rawlins Murthy

    Born and educated in India, he studied Medicine in Nepal and has been working as a doctor in the NHS since 2005. After qualification he started training in the field of Surgery, but after a placement at Probus surgery decided to change his career path to become a GP. His clinical interests are Eldercare Medicine (old age) Psychiatry, Urinary and prostate problems in men, Musculoskeletal, Orthopaedic and Surgical diseases, and a passion for Medi-Aesthetics

    Dr Murthy has since joined the Surgical Centre to perform vasectomies and the Partnership of Probus Surgery and Cornwall Medical Group.

  • Miss Rachael Tyers

    Miss Rachael Tyers

    [1995] BSc (Hons), MBBCh, MRCS

    Rachael was born and bred in Wales and trained and graduated from the University of Wales College of Medicine in 1995. Once qualified as a Surgeon she trained in plastic surgery and, prior to coming to Probus Surgical Centre in January 2005, was working as a middle grade surgeon in plastic surgery at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London.

    Rachael works as a Surgeon in Primary Care at Probus Surgical Centre and has extensive knowledge of the diagnosis and treatment of hand conditions including:- carpal tunnel, ganglion and trigger finger. Rachael also works at the Royal Cornwall Hospital as an Associate Specialist in Dermatology performing dermatological surgery.

    Rachael is a keen sportswoman and partakes in virtually any outdoor activity. At present her hobbies include running, mountain biking, adventure racing and generally keeping fit!

  • Mr Ponnandai Arumugam

    Mr Ponnandai Arumugam

    Mr Arumugam (Aru) is an experienced hernia surgeon and has been a Consultant in General Surgery at the Royal Cornwall Hospital since 2004. He specialises in Colorectal Cancer surgery, surgery for inflammatory bowel disease & functional bowel work.

    Clinical Interests: Hernia Repair – Laparoscopic and open for inguinal and incisional / umbilical and femoral hernia.

    Academic Background: MS, FRCS(Ed), FRCS (Gen Surg), PGCE

    Professional Membership: Honorary University fellow- Peninsula medical school, HCSA, ACPGBI- Association of Coloproctology, Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and MDDUS.

  • Mr Sivaraman Kumar

    Mr Sivaraman Kumar

    Mr Kumaravel, popularly known as Mr Kumar, has been working as a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Probus Surgical Centre since 2014 performing cataract surgery under the NHS and also privately. Mr Kumar is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and United Kingdom and Ireland Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

    Mr Salem Murjaneh

    Mr Salem Murjaneh is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon and Vitreoretinal Specialist who has worked with us since 2016. He primarily works at Royal Cornwall Hospital Treliske since 2012.

  • Mr Badie George

    Mr Badie George

    Mr George studied and qualified in medicine at Ain Shams University in Cairo in 1989. He worked in the Republic of Ireland til 1993 and the Aberdeen Royal Infermary til July 1994, before Joining the Royal Cornwall Hospital where he is employed to this day.

    Special Interests: Cataract surgery and managing diabetic retinopathy. Mr George also has 8 years experience in medi-aesthetics and specialises in anti-ageing procedures.

  • Mr William Westlake

    Mr William Westlake

    Mr Westlake has been working as a Consultant Ophthalmologist in Cornwall since 2001, based primarily at the Royal Cornwall Hospital. Prior to this, he trained in London and the South West. Mr Westlake completed a 2 year fellowship in Perth, Western Australia, concentrating on areas of special interest: eyelid surgery, surgery for watery eyes, glaucoma and cataract surgery.

    Mr Westlake’s lid surgery expertise lies in removal of lid tumours and correction of eyelid malposition: out turning, in-turning and droopy eyelids as well as removal of eye bags.

  • Mr Siva Gopalswamy

    Mr Siva Gopalswamy

    Mr Gopalswamy is an experienced consultant general surgeon working in NHS and has been working at Royal Cornwall Hospital since April 2005. He specialises in both upper and lower gastrointestinal surgery, delivering high quality day case operations in general surgery. His special interest is in gallbladder and hernia problems. He deals with very complex hernia problems at Treliske hospital, and is also a General Paediatric Surgeon.

    Mr Gopalswamy is a faculty of Royal College of Surgeons in teaching basic surgical skills and core laparoscopic skills for trainees. He is an educational and clinical supervisor for trainees and voted as the best foundation educational supervisor in the trust. He is also honorary teaching fellow of the University of Exeter Medical School. He has numerous publications in scientific journals.

    Clinical Interests: Hernia repair – inguinal, umbilical, epigastric, incisional and femoral hernia.

    Academic background: MS (Masters in Surgery), DNB (Diplomate in National Board), MRCS (Intercollegiate), DLS (Diploma in Laparoscopic Surgery) FRCS (Gen Surg), PGCe (NHS Leadership).

    Mr Vadivel Moonesamy

    Mr Vadival Moonesamy is an Associate Specialist in Plastics who works primarily at Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. He has been working for us since 2019 performing hand operations.

  • Mr Amith Pinto

    Mr Amith Pinto

    Mr Amith Pinto is a full time NHS Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon and Cosmetic Reconstructive Facial Surgeon. He has been a NHS Consultant since 2017 and is based at The Royal Cornwall Hospital where he is clinical lead for the department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He has been performing specialised facial surgery since 2003 and trained as a junior surgeon at Oxford, London and the West Midlands. He has been working at Probus Surgical Centre since 2019.

    Mr Pinto qualified in medicine and dentistry and has undergone extensive specialist consultant training at the regional maxillofacial unit in Liverpool which is an internationally recognised centre of excellence for Maxillofacial Surgery.

    At the end of his training, he was appointed to a highly competitive Royal College of Surgeons of England Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship which he completed in the East Midlands.

    He also had training in Cosmetic Surgery in the United States of America, Japan and India.

    Mr Pinto is a full member of the European Association of Facial Plastic Surgeons, the British Society of Rhinoplasty Surgeons and the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

    Mr Pinto has multiple publications in peer reviewed journals and have presented his research at national and international conferences.

    He always adopt a caring and patient-centered approach whilst offering the most up to date evidenced based techniques with a view to achieving the best possible outcome for his patients.

    Sub-specialites: Cosmetic surgery.

    Special clinical interests: His subspecialty interests are skin cancer, treatment of facial deformity, cosmetic and facial plastic surgery. In his NHS practice he manages the entire spectrum of head and neck disease including oral cancer, complex facial trauma, jaw joint problems, facial pain, benign and malignant salivary gland disease and complex dental surgery including wisdom teeth.

    Mr Nazih Toumia

    Mr Nazih Toumia is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon since 2013, who works primarily at Royal Cornwall Hospital Treliske. He has been working at Probus Surgical Centre since 2018. His specialties are Corneal transplants, Corneal and external eye disease and Cataract surgery.

    Miss Julia Hale

    Miss Julia Hale is a Consultant Ophthalmologist who primarily works at Royal Cornwall Hospital Treliske. She has been working with us since 2015 treating our Royal Cornwall Hospital Treliske subcontracted patients.

    Mr Rikesh Chandarana is an Associate Specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, who primarily works at Royal Cornwall Hospital Treliske. He has been working with us since 2022 treating our Royal Cornwall Hospital Treliske subcontracted patients.
